Why choose a liquid diet?

Some people use a liquid diet to lose weight. I would not recommend this diet for the purposes of weight loss, as it ceases aiding the digestive with the instant reduction in dietary fiber.

This liquid diet, I have undertaken. I undertook this diet because I have severe stomach pain that may be a member of the Inflamed Bowel Disease family, most likely Colitis, however Colitis is only the banner term for a number of stomach issues that end with colitis. I am still in the getting diagnosed phase. I was researching and came across a theory that my stomach needs to be reset to stop the pain by giving it a rest. I guess when we break a limb, we rest it. I had never considered to give my stomach a rest and if I had a liquid diet had never occurred to me as I have always considered it a bad way to diet.

Full Liquid Diet Recipe

The best way to do this is to grab a juicer and juice fresh fruit and vegetables. This diet is to maintain appropriate good nutrion while giving the stomach a break, from working digesting.

The full liquid diet allows:

Fruit Juice - any, the stomach acid is more acidic than any other fruit acid. Some sources recommend not to drink, apple, pinapple juice or other juices that ferment in the stomach.

Vegetable juice - there are some really good already pre-prepared vegetable juices.

Milk - Can be mixed with flavourings, or even protein drinks

Carbonated drinks are acceptable

Green Tea

Water - Is always good but it cannot be the only thing.

Yogurt, custard, Icecream, jelly and lard based products are also accepted. Lard based products are not very nutritious.

Review on Full Liquid Diet

Duration of Full Liquid Diet:

Started at tea time, 1 full day, Breakfast, Lunch. Then easing back in to food with blanched veggies and processed meat.

Review:

The first night my stomach was very active and acting like I should put actual food in to it. It settled by the next morning.

Through out the day following the diet similarliy to what I would normally eat so as not to make to big of a change, just minus any fiber that would make my intenstines, lower intenstines and colon to work hard.

Just after lunch I was feeling like I had so much energy, and happier. I had been lethargic and so tired for ages with dull pain in my stomach, I felt awesome. Later on near the end of the work day, I was feeling tired again and hungry. I had another milk based drink, which restored my energy levels again. I think I had just over done the juices.

Clear Liquid Diet

If I were to be diagnosed and surgery was required then they would cut out some of my intenstines, and I would only be allowed to have a clear liquid diet.

Clear Liquid diet consists of:

* Water

* Clear Carbonated Drinks

* Broth (Boiled chicken or beef liquid)

* jelly (Clear)

This would only be for a very short time, then moved on to full liquid, then low spice. Depending on how the body copes with it.
